A romantic buttery silk satin in ivory with curved pleated bodice and silk tulle with blonde lace and satin heart insertions. The bodice is lined in fine muslin and padded at the bust. The back is fastened with hand hammered brass hooks and eyes. Skirt hem is lined with fine linen. The waist has not quite dropped to the deep point that is seen in dresses from 1840 but the sleeves have finally collapsed and tightened at the upper arm. Very deep set shoulders (the dress does not quite fit my early dressform). The shoes are perfect with small bows at the front, silk tension cords still remain and the silk ribbons that tie at the ankle are still fresh and like new. There is a French label in the shoes that read "Este r. de la Paix 13 Paris"
Size: 22" waist, 29" bust, 17" shoulder to shoulder, 36" skirt length.
Condition: Dress - excellent. A few faint stains at the front that are hidden among the folds of the skirt. This dress had to be cleaned as there were a few greasy stains scattered on the skirt (these have been removed). The bertha collar was reattached and is fragile in a few places but the silk tulle is still buttery and soft. Shoes - nearly mint. One small scuff to the inside heel. Worn once.
